T-Cells (T-lymphocytes) are white blood cells which are central components of the cell-mediated immunity. The characteristic features is the presence of a [T-Cell](/blog/329/) receptor (TCR) on the plasma membrane. T-Cells mature in the Thymus. Several subsets of T-Cells exist, each one with a specific function.
T-Cells undergo defined age-related changes:
decrease in CD4/8 ratio
increase in the number of memory-like T-cells (CD44+), especially in CD8+44+
decrease in proliferative capacity during TCR stimulation
decrease in the production of naive T-cells
