There are some restriction for * and ``:
cannot be nested
content can not start or end with white-space
must be separated from surrounding text by white-space character.
Slash () can be used to work around the second restriction: "B\ old" results in Bold.
A backslash itself can be shown by escaping it with itself: \ -> \
