Meaning is very important for understanding information. Without meaning, which is synonymous to Semantics, information is almost useless.

The problem is to cope with the enormous big Internet (the main information system) and to make sense out of the Web.

Humans can barely keep up with the growth of data and have difficulty to deal with the meaning of the already available data. For machines the situations is even worse as the Internet is primary designed to be seen by human agents.

There is no way to express the meaning of information, because of HTML, the main language to represent Content in the Web, is not able to formally express meaning, i.e. Semantics.
