egl-15

Symbol: egl-15
Name: EGg Laying defective
Alias: EGg Laying defective family member (egl-15);WBGENE00001184
Entrez gene ID: 181291
Ensembl gene ID: F58A3.2
Species: Worm (Taxid: 6239)

Functional description:
Activation leads to the phosphorylation of SOC-1 on Tyr- 408 triggering PTP-2 recruitment and/or activation. Activates the SEM-5/SOS-1/RAS/MAPK pathway. Acts in the hypodermis to regulate axon growth. Isoform 2 has no effect on axon growth but affects the maintenance of axon position. Isoform b acts as a receptor for an extracellular signal required for the guidance of sex myoblast migration during gonad development. Isoforms 1, 3, 4 and 5 appear to play a role in maintaining body morphology at higher temperatures. [UniProt]
