VhaSFD

Symbol: VhaSFD
Name: Vacuolar H+-ATPase SFD subunit
Entrez gene ID: 34997
Ensembl gene ID: FBgn0027779
Species: Fly (Taxid: 7227)

Functional description:
involved in acidification of energization of organelles; Subunit of the peripheral V1 complex of vacuolar ATPase. Subunit H activates the ATPase activity of the enzyme and couples ATPase activity to proton flow. Vacuolar ATPase is responsible for acidifying a variety of intracellular compartments in eukaryotic cells, thus providing most of the energy required for transport processes in the vacuolar system (By similarity). [UniProt]

Observation:

Overexpression of VhaSFD (from a doxycycline-inducible promoter) results in a 5-10% increase in mean lifespan [12620118].

Interventions:
  • VhaSFD overexpression +5 to +10%

  • Assays: Organismal Lifespan
