PEP4

Symbol: PEP4
Name: carboxyPEPtidase Y-deficient 4
Entrez gene ID: 855949
Ensembl gene ID: YPL154C
Species: Yeast (Taxid: 4932)

Function:
Vacuolar aspartyl protease (proteinase A), required for the posttranslational precursor maturation of vacuolar proteinases; important for protein turnover after oxidative damage; synthesized as a zymogen, self-activates

Observation:

Overexpression of vacuolar aspartyl protease (PEP4) extends chronological lifespan by increasing cytosolic polyamine and S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) levels. Deletion of PEP4 results in both apoptotic and necrotic cell death during chronological aging [21593793]. PEP4 is not DR-essential [18690010].

Interventions:
  • PEP4 overexpression

  • Assays: Chronological Lifespan

    Classification:
