Functional description:
triglyceride synthesis enzyme acyl CoA:diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1; Catalyzes the terminal and only committed step in triacylglycerol synthesis by using diacylglycerol and fatty acyl CoA as substrates. In contrast to DGAT2 it is not essential for survival. May be involved in VLDL (very low density lipoprotein) assembly. [UniProt]

Deficiency in Dagat1 promotes leanless and extends mean, median and oldest 10% survival by 23, 26 and 9% without limiting food intake [22291164].
