che-2

Symbol: che-2
Name: abnormal CHEmotaxis
Entrez gene ID: 180401
Ensembl gene ID: F38G1.1
Species: Worm (Taxid: 6239)

Functional description:
Protein CHE-2; abnormal CHEmotaxis family member (che-2) [Source:RefSeq peptide;Acc:NP_508106] [Ensembl]; che-2 encodes a protein that contains G-protein beta-like WD-40 repeats that affects chemotaxis, dauer formation, and longevity; expressed in the cilia of most ciliated sensory neurons, some head neurons, and male tail rays. [WormBase]

Observation:

che-2 recessive loss-of-function mutations extend lifespan up to 50% (in Bristol N2) [10617200]. che-2 mutants are chemotactic defective, slightly small, defective for osmotic avoidance, have ciliated neurons with abnormal stunted ultrastructure, and are dauer defective [2428682; 1732156].
