Change: URIs in the Semantic Web

In the Semantic Web things are described with the help of URIs that are constructed in the way like the URIs in world wide web are constructed. Sometimes it need to be refereed to things or resources that do not have an URI up to now. Therefore one has to come up with an URI. For this it shall be obey to a few rules for example, avoid overlaps and always use your own website to specify information about yourself. Also enable documentation that are at the same place as the resource referred to. It is not sufficient to create an URI, one shall also describe the object. It need to be provided a resource with a representation of information for documentation.

• What if a URI for a resource does not exist?

• Define a URI by yourself:

  • avoid overlaps

    • use your own website

  • enables documentation at the same place

    • Content Negotiation

• Separate URI for resource (Designatum) and its documentation (Designator) via URI references (i.e. via "#" fragments) or Content Negotiation
