Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is an Age-Related Disease, the most common form of Dementia which is associated with Loss of Memory. AD is diagnosed most often in individuals over 65 years of age. AD worsens as it progresses and eventually leads to death.

Vitamin D3 helps to clear amyloid-beta, the abnormal protein found in plaques that are predominantly associated with AD [23186989].

Vitamin D3 and Resolvin D1 (active form of omega-3 fatty acid DHA) improve the ability of the AD patients' Macrophages to gobble-up amyloid-beta and inhibit Apoptosis that is induced by amyloid-beta. Each nutrition molecule utilizes different receptors and common signaling pathways to do this [23186989].

Vitamin D3 and Omega-3 fatty acids may enhance the immune system's ability to clear the brain and amyloid plaques (one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease). Vitamin D3 and resolvin D1 greatly improved the clearance of amyloid-beta by macrophages in Alzheimer's patients and modulates the inflammatory gene expression [23186989].
