Aging in the cortex and cerebrellum of humans, chimpanzees and rhesus macaques is accompyned with a global miRNA downregulation, while a small subset of miRNAs is selectively upregulated. miR-144 is highly conserved and associated with aging progression [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20451302].
