One of those Factors that raise in blood during Aging is CCL11 (eotoxin), a small protein that attracts immune cells (eosinophils) to areas where it has been secreted by other cells.

Eotaxin levels increase with age in the plasma of mice and and young mice coupled with old mice as well as in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid from healthy humans between the ages 20 and 90.

Injecting eotaxin alone into a normal young-adult mouse diminishes its formation of new hippocampal nerve cells, just as injections of old-mouse plasma or a hook-up to an older mouse's bloodstream does [21886162; http://stanmed.stanford.edu/2011fall/article9.html].
